In Celebration of Women’s History Month, the South Florida Black Journalists Association (SFBJA) will host the Celebration of Women in Media Roundtable and Awards Recognition Ceremony at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, April 2 at Florida Memorial University. The event will honor women whose distinguished career accomplishments have contributed to the South Florida media landscape.
This year, the honorees include Vanessa Woodard Byers, creator of Blogging Black Miami; Jacqueline Charles, Caribbean correspondent reporter for the Miami Herald; Jessica Garrett Modkins, founder of ad agency Hip Rock Star; Nadege Green, journalist and producer for WLRN; and Neki Mohan, anchor and reporter for WPLG 10. All of the honorees have made a significant impact in the media and communication fields in South Florida.
This event will be open to both SFBJA members and the general public. It is co-sponsored by the Florida Memorial University NABJ Student Chapter. The event is also sponsored by: Robinson Law & Mediation, P.A., Play Pretty Beauty, Inc., JB Brothers Cakes and Legacy Magazine. The event will feature a formal panel discussion with invited honorees that includes a question-and-answer segment, and a reception with photo opportunities. The panel discussion will be moderated by Maxine Tulloch of Tulloch Media Corporation, Inc.
