On Saturday April 2, The South Florida Black Journalists Association (SFBJA) recognized five women at its third annual Women in Media Roundtable and Awards Ceremony. The event, held at Florida Memorial University, honored women whose distinguished career accomplishments have contributed to the South Florida media landscape.

This year, the honorees include Vanessa Woodard Byers, creator of Blogging Black Miami; Jacqueline Charles, Caribbean correspondent reporter for the Miami Herald; Jessica Garrett Modkins, founder of ad agency Hip Rock Star; Nadege Green, journalist and producer for WLRN; and Neki Mohan, anchor and reporter for WPLG 10.

“Each of the 2016 honorees’ careers have had a significant impact on South Florida through media and their fortitude and professional excellence are worthy of recognition,” said Suzette Maylor, president of SFBJA.
